Carbidopa-Levodopa
Carbidopa-Levodopa clinical trials have solidified the role these compounds have to play in the management of Parkinson’s disease. Levodopa acts as a dopamine substitute, while carbidopa prevents levodopa from being broken down before it reaches the brain. This, in turn, enhances its impact on the nerves and brain. However, it is difficult to find an option that is completely devoid of side effects. Similarly, Carbidopa-Levodopa clinical trials also presented some unwanted results, like nausea, low blood pressure, hallucinations, and more.
